Punctuation
The Period -
It is used at the end of a statement or command and after an abbreviation.
The Comma -
It has more uses than any other mark of punctuation.
The Colon -
Its primary function is to separate an introduction from what it introduces: a list,
a long quotation, an illustration, or an explanation. A colon is only used when the words preceding it form a
complete sentence. The colon is used to separate two independent clauses when the second explains or illustrates the first.
The Semicolon -
It is used in a compound sentence between two principal clauses which are not joined
by a conjunction. The semicolon is also used instead of a comma after items in a series when these items are long or complicated.
